Your account is now fully set up. Below, you'll find everything you need to know to prepare for your very first class.
🧠 Mat Hygiene & Academy Etiquette
We keep rules simple around here: it all boils down to showing basic respect to each other and taking care of our facility. To ensure a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for everyone, please keep these core guidelines in mind:
Slide-on Shoes are a Must: Never walk barefoot off the mat (especially into the restrooms), and never wear your shoes on the mat. Invest in a simple pair of slides or flip-flops that you can easily step out of right before you step onto the training floor.
Cleanliness First: Always show up to class in a freshly washed, completely dry uniform.
Trimmed Nails: Keep your fingernails and toenails clipped short and filed smooth to prevent accidentally scratching your training partners.
Remove Makeup & Jewelry: Please wash off makeup before training to avoid staining uniforms, and remove all jewelry, piercings, and watches for safety.
Tie Back Long Hair: If you have long hair, please secure it tightly with metal-free hair ties.
⚠️ The Freshness Rule: Gear with permanent odors, mildew smells, or visible tears/rips will not be allowed on the mat. Taking care of your gear means taking care of your teammates.
We highly encourage you to go online and research all you can about Jiu-Jitsu history, movements, and mat culture before your first day! The more curious you are, the faster you will learn.
🛒 Uniform & Gear Guidelines
At Allegiant, we do not have a strict uniform brand policy. You are welcome to wear any brand or color you like, as long as the designs are family-friendly and the gear is kept perfectly clean.
While we will be selling our own custom Allegiant Gis and rashguards soon, we want you to get geared up right away. We recommend purchasing at least one Gi (for traditional training) and a rashguard/grappling shorts (for No-Gi training).
Here are some fantastic, high-quality brands we recommend checking out:
Tatami Fightwear – Great styles and incredibly durable gear.
Fuji Sports – A classic, ultra-reliable choice for all levels.
Kingz Kimonos – Premium quality Gis with excellent fit options.
Elite Sports Gis on Amazon – A fantastic, budget-friendly option to get started quickly.
💡 Safety First: We also strongly suggest purchasing a comfortable, moldable mouthguard before your first live training session.
